Five people who mocked an attack against a Morena activist and made a satire of Layda Sansores San Román, governor of Campeche, during the carnival festivities, were arrested by state police.
The participants of the “The Farce and the Lie” troupe used costumes to resemble the governor, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Secretary of State Security, Marcela Muñoz, and also the Morena activist and former leader of the Citizen Movement (MC ) in the entity, Jamile Moguel.
Next to the representations of the political figures, a person was wearing a cherry vest (characteristic of AMLO’s party) and a mouse mask, as well as another person wearing a motorcycle helmet.
At the end of the tour of the so-called “carnival band”, state police agents, who report to the government, detained the members of the troupe and took them to the state prosecutor’s office.
The law enforcement authorities have not reported the cause of the arrest. The Latinus news website requested information from the Campeche state prosecutor’s office about the situation of the detainees, but there was no response.
Moguel, accompanied by Morena leaders in Campeche, pointed out that she filed a lawsuit for apology of crime since the participants made fun of a shooting attack she suffered last August that caused permanent injuries to her kidney.
Moguel blamed the municipal president of Campeche, Bibi Ravelo, of Movimiento Ciudadano, for having sent the members of the troupe.
“Stop this violence, stop this hatred between Campechans,” Moguel said at a press conference.
