The Mérida Carnival culminated with a spectacular “Battle of the Flowers” parade that attracted thousands of families to Ciudad Carnaval.
Headed by Mayor Alejandro Ruz Castro and his wife, Verónica Cetina Arjona, the event was a riot of joy and color that marked the close of the festivities.
With the participation of 24 troupes and 22 floats, the parade was full of Latin rhythms and retro music, following this year’s theme: “Re-evolution, from Fantasy to Innovation.”
Artists such as Eugenio Siller, Fabiola Martínez and Alex Sirvent graced the route along with the kings of the carnival and other prominent figures.
During the event , flowers and gifts were given to attendees, while on the Mérida, Zona Tropical and Electric Party stages, artists such as Nicky Jam, Miriam y su dulce, and Tom & Collins made families vibrate with their music.
The mayor highlighted the success of the free transportation to Ciudad Carnaval, which registered an influx of 270 thousand users during the five days of activities.
In addition, an exclusive and safe service was provided for women and their children, thus guaranteeing a comfortable and safe experience for all attendees.
With more than 150 thousand people present on the last day of the Carnival, the Municipal Police of Mérida ensured the smooth development of the event.
The festivities will conclude with the traditional burial of Juan Carnaval in the Plaza Grande tomorrow, Wednesday at 8 pm, where his will will be read, thus marking the end of a festivity full of joy and fun for all Merida residents and visitors.
