AMLO reveals opening date of the Chichén Itzá Museum and new Maya Train section

President López Obrador announced that before the end of February, he will inaugurate the museum and a new section of the Maya Train.

The Chichén Itzá Museum and a new section of the Mayan Train already have an opening date, as announced by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who announced that it will be February 28 and 29, respectively.

At a press conference at the National Palace, López Obrador announced that he will personally make the journey on the Maya Train from Palenque to Playa del Carmen.

“On Wednesday, Feb. 28th, we are going to inaugurate the Chichén Itzá Museum, but we are going to make the trip from Palenque to Cancún, stopping at Chichén Itzá. The next day we will open the new section from Cancun to Playa, it’s about 50 kilometers long”, AMLO said.

“It is very important because the hotels are there, the workers will be able to go from Cancun to their workplaces very quickly on the train, and the tourists will stop to see the tourist areas,” López Obrador explained.

The head of the Executive stressed that, although injunctions continue to be filed against the construction of the Maya Train, the work will continue in the sections where there are no legal impediments.
