A forum on the vital importance of trees in Yucatán is coming to Mérida on Feb. 29

The trees of the city of Mérida and their importance within a sustainable environment is the central theme of the Citizen Trees forum, which will be held next Thursday, February 29, starting at 10 a.m., at the Education Center and Interactive Nursery, Sustainable Development Unit of the Mérida City Council.

The headquarters are located at number 106 on 10th Street between 23 and 25 in Merida´s Mulsay subdivision.

This is a forum for short presentations, less than 7 minutes each, on aspects of the urban trees of Mérida and its periphery.

Organized by the Sustainable Development Unit of the City Council, its owner, teacher Alejandra Bolio Rojas, will be in charge of the opening and preliminary data on the trees of the State capital and the significance of the event.

One of the first presentations is “Trees are Life”, by engineer Rafael Reynoso Valdez, motivational speaker, member of the Mexican Association of Arboriculture (Southeast delegation), and arborist certified by the International Association of Arboriculture (ISA).

Another conference is “Arborizing in Mérida is not easy”, by Dr. Jorge Carlos Trejo, head of the Urban Tree Department of the Mérida City Council and member of the Mexican Association of Arboriculture (Southeast delegation). The Pecha Kucha-style Short Seminars will allow the public to assimilate a wide range of situations, concepts, and information related to the trees of the city of Merida, all in about one hour and 15 minutes.
