Today, Yucatán is one of the safest states in the country, where its inhabitants have the opportunity to grow and improve their quality of life.
To maintain these rates of peace and tranquility that characterize Yucatán, the Vila Dosal administration increased the security budget in the state by 138 percent to go from 1,549 million pesos to 3,687 million pesos in 2024. in addition to creating a law that guarantees that this cannot be reduced in future administrations.
Additionally, through the “Yucatán Seguro” program, the number of video surveillance cameras was increased from 2,245 to 6,775; 219 plate reading arcs were installed; 2,400 smart traffic lights; a new C5i Monitoring Center; the acquisition of four boats; 2 bell helicopters, considered the best equipped in all of Latin America; four Black Mambas and armored vehicles, while the Regional Command and Control Centers of Izamal, Progreso, Oxkutzcab and Valladolid were remodeled.
In addition, security elements also have access to benefits such as a salary above the national average, health services in case of accident or work risk in private hospitals; quote in Infonavit; the opportunity for their children to have a 100% scholarship for registration and tuition at any public and private university in the state, a benefit that has been extended to the municipal police of Mérida and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and which is offers a scholarship of 2,800 pesos for food and transportation expenses, as well as the public transportation service of the “Circuito Héroes Ciudadanos” and the “Héroes Ciudadanos” Card.
These actions have allowed Yucatán to continue achieving the best rates in terms of security and justice, such as in 2023, which was the year with the lowest crime incidence in the history of the state, as it registered a rate of 163.74 crimes per 100 thousand inhabitants, the lowest in its history and which meant a decrease of -1.9% in cases, going from 3,893 crimes in 2022 to 3,819 in 2023.
