Unique Encounter with Latin American Music at Mérida’s Palace of Music

The Latin American Ensemble group, from the prestigious Grinnell College in Iowa, will perform at the Palacio de la Música – National Center of Mexican Music on Tuesday, January 16 at 8:00 p.m. Under the musical direction of Gabriel Espinosa, this event promises a unique Latin American music experience.

The young musicians, students of various disciplines such as computing, chemistry, and biology, come from Iowa to share their passion for Latin music with the Yucatecan public. Led by the talented Yucatecan Gabriel Espinosa, the Latin American Ensemble left a lasting impression during their last visit to Yucatán, which took place before the start of the pandemic in 2020.

The repertoire of 27 songs, featuring interpretations in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, includes tributes to classics such as ” Peregrina “, which turned 100 years old in 2023. Among the pieces to be performed are hits by artists such as Natalia Lafourcade, Mon Laferte, and Katie James, as well as well-known songs such as “One Note Samba” and “The Girl from Ipanema” by Jobim.

Admission to the concert is free, allowing the Yucatecan public to enjoy a night full of vibrant and exciting rhythms.
