During her tours of neighborhoods and rural communities across Mérida, Federal Representative Cecilia Patrón Laviada listens to the people that tell her about the benefits of having better job opportunities in a city and a state that are poles of economic development.
“In Yucatán, thanks to the infrastructure, security, and legal certainty, large companies have arrived with well-paid job options.”
This is the case of Ariadna Sansores, a young woman from Merida who, after the pandemic, went out in search of a job opportunity and found a place in the Walmart Distribution Center of Mexico and Central America, which began operations in March 2020.
“This is how you work with social justice, in a Mérida and a Yucatán where the benefits reach everyone with better opportunities for the Yucatecan family to boost their economy,” said Cecilia Patrón.
In this sense, she mentioned that the Chamber of Representatives is promoting a bill so that infrastructure planning is aligned with economic development plans, which will allow it to continue attracting greater investment and competitive jobs.
Nearshoring is the economic phenomenon in which companies move their production chains to the main market areas, promoting the growth of more companies, providing sources of jobs, growth of the local economy and greater accessibility to quality services.
Thanks to the vision of the Government headed by Mauricio Vila Dosal, multinationals such as Amazon, Walmart, ABB MXTEC, Accenture, and Woodgenics, among many others, have arrived in Yucatán, resulting, in the last year alone, in a record of more than 440 thousand workers insured with IMSS.
For its part, the Cabildo of Mérida recently approved the streamlining of procedures to access programs such as Micromer, which allows Merida residents to undertake and generate employment through micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, “this is working in a team and gives a great boost to the local economy and the pockets of the families of Yucatán.” he indicated.
