Plague of locusts returns to Yucatán; thousands “invade” Motul

For almost an hour thousands of locusts flew over the skies of the historic center of Motul to the amazement and fear of the people.

Around 1 in the afternoon the insects covered the sky and what for some is amazing, but for others it is worrying because they destroy everything grown on the land.

The locust landed on the plants and trees they found in their path, including on the monument of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. On December 5, in Mérida, residents of the western and northern areas reported swarms of lobsters flying through the skies and delighting the birds.
