Merida is one of the four Mexican cities with the lowest perception of insecurity

A survey carried out by Inegi revealed that Mérida occupies the fourth place with the lowest insecurity perception index with a percentage of 22.2 percent

According to the National Urban Public Security Survey (ENSU) carried out by Inegi from November 27 to December 15, 2023, the city of Mérida ranks fourth in the nation when it comes to perception of insecurity.

4 Cities with the lowest insecurity perception

  • Benito Juárez: 15.2%
  • Puerto Vallarta: 19.4%
  • Piedras Negras: 20.5%
  • Merida: 22.2%

Mérida has been classified as having the lowest incidence of crime, as it maintains the absence of high-impact crimes such as bank robbery, kidnapping, assaults on ATMs, armed robberies, homicides, and confrontations between criminal groups.

Due to the security that prevails in the well-known »White City» it has become one of the main places of settlement for families, since many people from all over Mexico and also from another countries have chosen Mérida as their new home.

People in Mérida have the peace of mind of walking the streets night or day, as it conveys an atmosphere of security, which is attracting more families, and that is why the population is growing more and more.
