Mérida among the best places in the world to visit: CNN

The CNN Travel page released its list of the best tourist destinations to visit in this year 2024, and among so many points around the world, the city of Mérida was included, highlighting that Yucatán is one of the two safest states in the country .

The long list of recommended travel destinations includes points in Indonesia, Taiwan, Canada, Chile, South Korea, Western Australia, Spain, Singapore and Greenland, among many others.

No Mexican tourist destination is included, except the city of Mérida, mentioning that although the Yucatan Peninsula is well known for its tropical beaches, venturing “inland you will find an unexpected urban gift.”

“Mérida’s uniqueness comes from a mix of Mayan and colonial heritage,” said David Casanova, who runs a real estate YouTube channel in the Yucatecan capital with his wife, Megan Sequeira Casanova, adding that the excitement of the city begins with its varied cuisine and its friendly locals.”

CNN highlights the security of Yucatán 

The attraction that Paseo de Montejo represents is also highlighted, as well as the proximity of the port of Progreso, without forgetting the archaeological zones that can be visited through specialized tours.

Likewise, Mérida’s recommendation mentions that “if you are concerned about personal safety in Mexico, the United States Department of State rates the states of Yucatán and Campeche as the safest.”
