Residents of the San Ignacio community have enthusiastically received the work being carried out at their police stationComisaría, as part of the municipal program “Improvement of the urban image”, which was supervised by Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi, to check the advances that provide a positive and more attractive change to the town.

As has been announced, the works began last Monday, January 12, from that day to date, the City Council of Progreso, through the staff of all municipal agencies, has taken on the task of transforming the image of the San Ignacio community, through three important actions.

In that sense, the mayor explained that the first action includes the improvement of more than 300 facades, with the application of yellow paint, and which there is already 80 percent progress. The second action is the beautification of the walkway, located on the main street, which includes lighting, painting, and reforestation. In this last point, indicated by the mayor, a little more than 87 plants have been planted, among coconut and ixora palm trees.

And the third action, the paving of 7,910 square meters, which is already 30 percent complete, the mayor said.

In this context, one of the neighbors who expressed her perception was Mrs. Rosa Estela López, who recognized that the work would significantly optimize her community: “San Ignacio is beautiful and with that yellow color, it will look better. It’s good that they are also improving the walker: our children will have a place to live together, where to play. We know that there is still a long way to go, and for our part, we will continue to take care of our community,” she expressed.

Zacarías Curi highlighted that these works will continue for the next three weeks, to make San Ignacio a renovated police station with history, which is not only pleasant for the inhabitants but also for those who visit it.

“We want to recover a bit of the original atmosphere of what used to be San Ignacio: a hacienda. We are working very hard to beautify the police station for the well-being and quality of life of its inhabitants, and also to make the experience of those who come more pleasant,” concluded the mayor.

During this supervision, the Municipal Trustee, Patricia Rosado González, was present; councilor Claudette Gamboa Rassam; the heads Luis Castro Naal, of Urban Development and Public Works; Patricia Sauri Barroso, from the Promotion of Agricultural Development and Small Producers; José Luis Gómez Ordoñez, from Social Development, and Ricardo Jerez Obando, from the “Comisaría” Attention Unit, as well as the San Ignacio Ejidal commissioner Israel Cauich Canché.
