“There is a notable decrease in the number of new cases, deaths, and hospital occupancy. Currently, there are less than 50 active cases, we have four hospitalized patients and we hope this trend continues downwards,” the official explained.

According to data from the Special Dengue Epidemiological Surveillance System with Information as of January 8, in the first week of 2024, no positive cases of dengue or deaths from this condition were recorded.

Dr. Sauri Vivas said that the department under his charge will continue with preventive activities such as monitoring traps to carry out entomological studies that will allow the population of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the transmitter of dengue, to be controlled.

The official recalled that prevention measures are keeping the yards clean, using repellent, placing crinolines in homes, and wearing long-sleeved clothing.
