Health authorities seek to reinforce preventive measures in school campuses.
Given the rebound in cases of Covid-19 and other respiratory diseases, the Secretary of Education of the State of Mexico issued an urgent call this Thursday to the educational community to resume the use of face masks as a preventive measure .
The state has experienced an increase in infections, which has motivated educational authorities to reinforce precautions in school buildings.
These are the prevention measures:
Mandatory Use of Face Masks : The Edomex Education Secretariat urges students, teachers and administrative staff to use face masks on a mandatory basis within educational facilities. This measure seeks to reduce the spread of the virus in school environments .
Frequent Hand Washing : Constant hand washing with soap and water is recommended , an essential practice to prevent the transmission of respiratory diseases.
Healthy Distance and Respiratory Etiquette : The educational community must maintain a ” healthy distance “ between individuals and practice respiratory etiquette when coughing or sneezing, using the elbow or a tissue to prevent the dispersion of particles.
Ventilation of Spaces : The importance of keeping educational spaces well ventilated is emphasized , allowing the circulation of fresh air to reduce the risk of contagion.
Updated Vaccination Scheme : The Ministry of Education calls for having the updated vaccination scheme, both for Covid-19 and influenza, as an additional protection measure.

What is the situation of health centers?
Despite the ‘alert’, according to the information provided by the SARI Network System of the Ministry of Health and the UNAM until January 17, 2024, at least 05 health centers in the country have reached 100 % occupancy in general hospitalization beds.
It should be noted that, to date, Mexico City is not among the entities with capacity at limit . The states affected by hospital saturation are Oaxaca, Puebla, Aguascalientes and Jalisco.
