“ We are going to review Zedillo ‘s labor counter-reform, that of pensions,” announced President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in the city of Orizaba, Veracruz on Sunday, January 7th.

The executive announced before supporters who gathered at the commemorative event of the 117th anniversary of the Martyrs of 1907, to present an initiative to reform Article 123 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, so that it is established that the salary never increases less than inflation and made the commitment, at the suggestion of the teachers’ union, to review the anti-labor pension reform of former President Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León.

During his speech he said that he will make a proposal so that workers at the end of their working life receive their full salary, as when they were active.

Before representatives of the labor sector, federal officials, general secretaries of CROC unions ; SUTERM, SNTSS, oil workers, SNTE , municipal presidents and Morenistas , highlighted that it is unfair that a worker, after 30 years of working, does not even receive half of his salary.

The Chief Executive said that he will send this reform at the request of the union of teachers and other workers along with an initiative to reform constitutional Article 123 so that salaries never increase less than inflation.

“ Before I finish my term I am going to send a bill to reform article 123 of the Constitution to establish that wages will never, ever increase less than inflation, never again. “We are going to continue with that policy ”, AMLO stated.

He stressed that what his government has done for the benefit of the workers is already a labor policy and highlighted: “To hell with neoliberalism , to hell with neo-Porfirismo, we do not want oligarchy; Mexico is not a country of a few, Mexico belongs to all the people.,” AMLO declared in his particular style.
