On Thursday, January 11th, around four in the afternoon, López Obrador, the leftist Mexican president, met at the National Palace with heads of the Mexican embassies and consulates.

This meeting was attended by figures such as Omar Fayad, Quirino Ordaz, Claudia Pavlovich, Joaquín González, Jesús Seade and more.

At the meeting, Obrador reported on the progress in the country and asked officials to disseminate these achievements in their respective countries.

The SRE has now the presidential order to promote Mexico as a tourist attraction in their respective countries, a task that has never been carried out by this Secretariat in the past.

There used to be a National Committee of Tourism Promotion, but President Lopez Obrador decided to terminate this committee in the year 2019, arguing there was corruption within the organization.
