Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal will attend COP28 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held in the United Arab Emirates, where he will be sharing experiences and giving to know the strategies and actions that are being carried out in Yucatán on the matter.

Vila Dosal will be participating in this important international meeting by being invited as a speaker for the Local Climate Action Summit (LCAS), from where he will present the strategies that his administration is carrying out for a greener and more sustainable Yucatan.

Also, it will attend as part of the Group of Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) the Ministerial Meeting, Urbanization and Climate Change of UN Habitat to endorse the importance of strengthening multilevel cooperation and seek to act in a comprehensive manner between all levels of government on issues of energy transition, climate finance, focusing on nature and people, as well as ensuring local voices are heard and included in international forums.

It should be noted that the Governor will also be participating as spokesperson for the biodiversity and nature portfolio of the global committee (Gexcom) of ICLEI and president of the GCF Task Force (Governors for Climate and Forests) project.

With your assistance, Vila Dosal will seek to make visible the commitments and actions that Yucatán is implementing on Climate Change issues, under strategies based on work for a green and sustainable Yucatán.

In addition, it seeks to share experiences and lessons learned with other subnational governments of other countries to identify new opportunities for action, twinning and common objectives to contribute to global goals on Climate Change issues.

The United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP) are held every year and are the only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change in which multiple countries around the world participate, to agree on ways to address the climate crisis, such as limiting global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius, helping vulnerable communities adapt to the effects of climate change, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

COP28 began on November 30 and concludes until December 12
