President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will begin the year in Yucatán to commemorate the centenary of the murder of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, an event that will include various activities during 2024, including the announcement of a new campus of the Autonomous University of Yucatán in the interior of the State.
Next January 3 will mark 100 years since the execution of the socialist leader, who is the founder of the National University of the Southeast, predecessor of Uady. Within this framework, in Motul, his hometown, a series of commemorative activities will be held, which will begin on that date with an official ceremony in which the president will be present.
At this event, the Uady project to open a new campus in the city of Motul will also be announced, which would begin with the high school level, in what would be High School No. 4, which they hope will come into operation next September.
To this end, the university already has a 30-hectare plot of land on site, where it is expected that in the future undergraduate and postgraduate degrees will also be offered, reported Carlos Bojórquez Urzaiz, executive president of the commemoration committee for the centenary of the death of Carrillo Puerto, summoned by the university.
