As anticipated, hotels in this port had a very good influx during the Christmas holidays, from December 22 to 25, according to the president of the delegation of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco-Servytur), Manuel Contreras Alcalá.
Occupancy, reports Contreras Alcalá, was 100% in the vast majority of hotels since only a few had rooms available.

Contreras Alcalá indicated that some of the hoteliers are already beginning to report that they have been receiving reservations for December 30 and 31 and January 1, 2024, in some cases, they indicate that they already have 100% occupancy.
He pointed out that some hotels have also reported problems with their rooms, but nothing of significance, since it is only maintenance issues, but they hope to have them ready for those dates.
In addition to the hotels, some of the members of the Chamber who rent houses through digital platforms indicated that they have already begun to receive reservations for these dates.
Tourist activity in Progreso is beginning to report a phenomenon: tourists, at least national ones, no longer come to be on the beach and enjoy the sea, but rather visit the city for other attractions.
Some of the places where visitors flock are El Corchito, the Meteorite Museum, Pig Beach, Isla Columpios as well as the Jurassic Trail.
In the cases of El Corchito and the Meteorite Museum, they have registered constant attendance since they opened.
Being in the middle of the holiday season due to winter, in Progreso the national tourism that has arrived looks very little for the beach area of the boardwalk.
