The owner of the jewelry store indicated that gold and silver items valued at approximately 65 thousand pesos were stolen, as well as 10 thousand in cash.

On Tuesday, December 12th, the theft of thousands of pesos in clothing and cash was discovered in a jewelry store, located inside the premises of the Lucas de Gálvez market, in the Center of Mérida.

The owner of the “Karina” jewelry and silversmithing workshop, identified as José Valencia, stated that last night at 7:30 p.m. he closed his store, located between the ramp and the market fishmonger, and upon arriving at 8:00 hours this Tuesday to open it he discovered that the locks on a metal door were broken.

Upon entering the site, he discovered belongings lying on the floor and the lack of several gold and silver items valued at approximately 65 thousand pesos, as well as the theft of 10 thousand in cash.

Immediately, he notified the market surveillance personnel, as well as the 911 emergency number.

Within minutes, agents of the Municipal and State Police arrived, who placed the tape to secure the premises, along with staff of the State Investigation Police who began the corresponding investigations to find those responsible for the theft.
