Presentation of the history of the Museum in documentary architectural video mapping.

With this audiovisual proposal, the artist Josue Abraham Palma was a beneficiary of the Cultural Projects and Co-investments Promotion Program in 2021.

MÉRIDA, Yuc., December 13, 2022.- Within the framework of the 63rd anniversary of the Palacio Cantón Regional Museum of Anthropology, a documentary architectural video mapping created by multimedia artist Josué Abraham Palma will be presented to narrate in an audiovisual way the history of the construction of this emblematic building that is part of the cultural heritage of Yucatán.

The project titled “Las Voces del Palacio Cantón” is a project benefited by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico, through the System of Support for Creation and Cultural Projects (SACPC) and the Promotion Program a Cultural Projects and Co-investments, in which the Culture Directorate participates
of the Mérida City Council, led by Dr. Irving Berlin Villafaña.

The screenings will take place at the Palacio Cantón Regional Museum of Anthropology on the façade facing Paseo de Montejo, from December 12 to 14 and from December 19 to 21 of the same month, in two performances at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The activity is free to access.

Josue Abraham explained that “Las Voces del Palacio Cantón” is a documentary architectural video mapping, with a duration of 18 minutes that provides a tour of the history of the construction and social use of the building, through 2D and 3D animations; music, and sound effects.

The artist thanked the support and openness of the management of the Regional Museum of Anthropology to develop in coordination this proposal that offers an innovative alternative to tell the history of the museum.

Professionals specialized in the history and architecture of the building, teacher Blanca M. González Rodríguez, author of the book, participated in the development of this audiovisual montage.

“The Palace of General Canton. 100 years of history” and the doctor in architecture Gladys N. Arana López, author of books about this historical period, its impact on Porfirian social life and post-revolution in Yucatán.

Likewise, the photographic collection of Francisco Cantón Correa, Araceli Loría Cantón, Rogerio Ortega Cantón, Ramón Riancho G. Cantón, Blanca González Rodríguez and Beatriz Repetto Tió collaborated.

The production team is made up of: Josue Abraham Palma, multimedia artist in charge of the management, direction, and animation of the project; León Enríquez Macías, master in Musicology and responsible for the sound design and Rafael Lara Castro, specialist in Architecture and History and Heritage, who developed the research and script. Music graduate Edgar Sulú Vera, videographer Andy Manrique, and Communication graduate Cecilia Ricardez also collaborated.
