The National Women’s American Football Championship is disputed in Mérida

With the participation of the teams from Yucatán, Nuevo León, Baja California, and Mexico City, the National Women’s American Soccer Championship was launched on the field of the Wireless Sports Complex.


The tournament is organized by the American Football Association and Tochito Bandera of Yucatán with the support of the Sports Institute.


The contest was inaugurated by Jorge Esteban Abud, director of the Yucatán Sports Institute (Idey); along with César Barrera Sánchez, president of the Mexican American Football Federation; Adriana Trujillo Salazar, head coach of the Yucatán women’s team; Carlos Cardona Mendoza, president of the local Association; and Miguel Vidal Carrillo, director of the Wireless Sports Complex.


The Yucatecan team represents the southeastern region of the country, while Nuevo León represents the north-central region of the country, Baja California to the northern border of Mexico, and Mexico City to the central region.


The calendar is made up of 5 days and the first 2 games were played on the first day of competition. Yucatán fell in time 8-6 against Nuevo León and in its afternoon duel, they won 6-0 against Mexico City.

Therefore, this Saturday at 10 a.m., the local team needs to beat Baja California and then they will face Nuevo León again in search of continuing the fight. 

The tournament ends on Sunday, December 3 with the final, scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
