The Mexican Stock Market is closing the year with a decline of 0.16%

At the end of the stock market session, losses in the materials, health and basic consumer sectors stand out.

The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) recorded a 0.16% drop in its main indicator on Thursday, December 28th, to stand at 57,464.42 units and ended its second downward session, after reaching a historical maximum on Tuesday, December 26th.

“In Mexico, the CPI closed the session with a loss of 0.16%, linking two consecutive sessions downwards after it closed on Tuesday at its highest level on record,” the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of the Bank explained to EFE. Base, Gabriela Siller.

The analyst pointed out that internally the losses in the sectors stood out: materials (-0.89%), health (-0.55%) and basic consumption (-0.52%).

“In Mexico, the trading volume was 74.25% below the 100-day average,” said Siller.

On the day, the peso depreciated 0.2% against the dollar, trading at 16.95 units per greenback, after trading at 16.91 the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.

The IPC closed the session at 57,464.42 units, with a loss of 90.05 points and a negative variation of 0.16% compared to the previous day.

The volume traded in the market reached 79.7 million securities for an amount of 11,439 million pesos (about 674 million dollars).

Of the 501 firms that traded on the day, 272 ended with their prices rising, 196 had losses and 33 closed unchanged.

The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the sports center chain Sports World (SPORT S), with 3.46%; of the chemical products marketer Cydsa (CYDSASA A), with 3.1% and of the maritime transport company Grupo TMM (TMM A), with 2.88%.

In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the chemical products marketer Grupo Pochteca (POCHTEC B), with -4.67%; from the construction and infrastructure firm Sitios Latinoamérica (LASITE B-1), with -3.36%, and from the auto parts and automotive equipment firm Nemak (NEMAK A), with -3.02%.

During the day, three of the four sectors fell, materials (-0.75%), followed by frequent consumption (-0.44%) and industrial (-0.29%), and only one advanced, financial (0.12% ).
