Progreso, Yucatán (December 12, 2023)-. More than a hundred pets underwent surgery in what was the last free day of canine and feline sterilizations in 2023.

This activity was carried out by the Coordination of Medical Services and the City Council of Progreso, headed by Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi, through the Subdirectorate of Ecology, and took place at the facilities of the Ejidal Commissariat, located on 80th Street with 39, in the center of the town.

Responsible owners came early to have their pets sterilized and thus offer them a better quality of life, as well as avoid indiscriminate reproduction, which allows animals to exist as street animals.

The first mayor attended the event to ensure that everyone is in good hands and with the necessary resources to care for people and their dogs and cats.

During the event it was reported that the program will have a break during the holidays and will resume at the beginning of the year.

Finally, Zacarías Curi was accompanied by the director of Public Services, Canán Góngora Ortegón; and the Deputy Director of Ecology, Augusto Navarrete Hevia.
