Mayan Train Plate Unveiled in Campeche
President Andrés López and Layda Sansores, governor of Campeche, unveiled the plaque to inaugurate the Campeche – Cancun section of the Mayan Train.
Women and men from construction, national and foreign technicians and suppliers participated in the railway work.
The project will be a reference to promote the economic and tourism development of the country for the benefit of Mexico.
At the beginning of December, the director of the Tren Maya project, Óscar Lozano Águila, reported that they will start partially, with few trains, none powered by electrical power, in a pre-operating state or soft opening for on-the-fly adjustments.
“We are going to start operations on December 15. It will be an operation, a pre-operation; As they call it in English, soft opening. It is precisely about adjusting along the way,” he said.
During López Obrador’s morning conference on December 4, the General reported that the work will begin with few trains, powered by diesel, since the electric ones will be available until February 2024.
