Professor Carlos Bojórquez Urzaiz, former director of UADY’s Faculty of Anthropology, explained that they hope that the work will be completed with the support of the university and the different levels of government. “Of course, it will depend on obtaining the resources,” he explained.

The committee is also chaired by the rector Carlos Estrada Pinto and is made up of the mayor of Motul, Roger Aguilar Arroyo; Celia Rosado Avilés, general secretary of the Uady, Faulo Sánchez Novelo, an anthropologist from Motuleño, Raúl Casares G. Cantón, businessman and writer; Ariel Avilés Marín, educator; Rodolfo Menéndez y Menéndez, businessman and former deputy; and Feliciano Moo Can, also a former legislator from Motul.

As part of the activities, the restoration of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Museum, located in the house where he lived, will also be carried out. These works include the change in the museography and the interiors, carried out by Uady experts.

The researcher added that as part of the works they seek to renovate a damaged part of the building, for which they are looking for funds and have already made progress in talks with personnel from the National Institute of Anthropology and History. They also hope that the president’s visit to Motul will serve to consolidate the support of the federal government.
