National Electoral Institute authorities to install boxes for election day

The president of the Local Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in Yucatán, Luis Guillermo Alvarado Díaz, reported that it will be in January of next year when he will carry out the verification of public and private schools and other spaces in which they would be locating the boxes that will be installed on election day in June 2024.

Alvarado Díaz declared that there is already an agreement with state authorities to allow part of the 3,000 boxes being installed to be placed in public schools in the state.

“For this, the State Electoral Institute and with the great support of the State Government, through the Ministry of Public Education, has already given us the signature of the agreement which will help us to visit the schools, the facilities, see which are the best places to place the boxes for the election day,” he explained.

On another issue, he reported that there are no complaints from political parties regarding any action that occurred in the electoral process, which is why he stated that it is taking place without incident, just 5 months before Election Day.

As for citizens, it was reported that some people who sought to register as aspiring independent indigenous candidates went to the INE, but they will not be able to register until February of next year.
