The delegate of the Mexican Institute of Social Security of Yucatán (IMSS), Alonso Juan Sansores Río, reported on Wednesday, December 13th, that next year Mérida will have a new family medicine hospital in the Francisco de Montejo subdivision.
“We already have a new Family Medicine Unit approved and already in the investment portfolio. If all goes well, next year we will be starting the construction of the Francisco de Montejo FMU.”
He added that 10 days ago the notification arrived about where the work was authorized, to begin the permit process that it entails.
“Next week with the city council we will be structuring the streets that will be around that family medicine unit,” he assured.
“As the eligible population grows, it would have to grow at the same time as the Social Security infrastructure,” he explained.
Another work is the Ticul hospital, with an investment of 1,297 million pesos, which registers a progress of 23 percent and predicts that activities could begin in June 2024. The building will have 70 beds, of which 40 will be for orthopedics.
In addition, he indicated that this year has been dedicated to conservation “we are working to have more modern, more comfortable units.”
At the end of this year, the Imss Yucatán serves one million 507 thousand 847 beneficiaries and 458 thousand 835 people from the Imss Bienestar program.
There are 440,985 insured workers and 1,698 domestic workers.
On a daily basis, the Yucatán Social Security grants 16,173 consultations, of which 1,16 are emergencies, specialists perform 80 surgeries a day and 18 deliveries in Yucatán.
