With the start of the Maya Train, the hotels in the center of Cancun began to promote this new attraction, thereby detonating the routes. This will also attract more visitors to these lodging centers.

Rebeca Bravo, president of the Hotels of the Center of the Hotel Association of Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres, explained that this will attract tourism, especially European tourism, which these days has been among the most interested in learning about the routes and the schedules that are already available to be able to make the trips, thereby discovering more destinations during your visit.

The hotel sector expects that it will attract a significant economic benefit and also an increase in visitors staying in downtown hotels, which they will calculate as tourism increases and thus provide more information and more routes.

On average it is estimated that in 2024 the Mayan Train will be mobilizing about eight thousand tourists daily when the route is complete and for this, a hotel and transportation infrastructure is required, which is why the project complements a positive strategy.

“The hotel sector that I represent in Cancún, Isla Mujeres, and Puerto Morelos we view the project favorably, and this will benefit us to further detonate occupancy rates, which this year were at an average of 70% to 80%, except the impact it represented in the low season,” she explained.

For next year, the Hotel Association plans to implement brochures in hotels to publicize more about the Mayan Train, in this way promote the destinations of the Mexican Caribbean and join the actions of the federal megaproject.
