Last month, 72 femicides were reported, five more cases than in October of this year
The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodríguez, recognized that last November there was an increase in the crime of femicides.
According to the graphs that the official presented in the monthly security report at President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s press conference, 72 femicides were reported in November, five more cases than last October, when 67 cases were reported.
“Femicide is down 28.7% – from December 2018 to November of this year, although in November it increased, we continue to intensify prevention, prosecution, and punishment of femicide violence, working with the authorities local,” he said.
The official did not present data on the crime of extortion.
In the case of intentional homicide, it was reported that last November 2,350 were registered, while in October 2,524 were reported, that is, 174 fewer intentional homicides.
“We have a drop in November and it means the lowest month in the last seven years. In the daily average of victims of intentional homicide we are also going down, which means a percentage of 19% less compared to 2018,” he said.
