Cuba and Yucatán seek to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation

The head of the General Secretariat of Government (SSG), María Fritz Sierra, received the Ambassador of Cuba in Mexico, Marcos Rodríguez Costa, in a visit that seeks to strengthen the historical ties between Cuba and Yucatán. 

Accompanied by his wife and the Consul General of Cuba in Mérida, Raisel Calvo Margolles, the diplomat, who is visiting Yucatán for the first time as part of a tour of the southeast of the country, expressed his interest in working to build a solid relationship of cooperation in areas of common interest. 

During the meeting, the historical relations in culture, arts, health and education between Yucatán and Cuba were highlighted.

In the SGG Board Room, ideas and experiences were exchanged, focusing on the cultural and linguistic brotherhood between Yucatán and Cuba.  

Fritz Sierra highlighted the Cuban community in Yucatán, especially in the artistic field, and highlighted security and investment opportunities in the state. 

Likewise, the state official shared with the ambassador the competitive advantages and opportunities for investment in Yucatán, highlighting the efforts of Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal in the economic and social transformation of the state.

At the meeting, which was attended by the head of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts (Sedeculta), Loreto Villanueva Trujillo, and the director of the Coordination of International Affairs, Marielle Ávila Storey, joint projects were promoted and explored. areas of opportunity to strengthen the relationship between both regions. 

Likewise, the ambassador thanked the reception and expressed the willingness of the Cuban Embassy in Mexico to promote joint projects and strengthen the bilateral relationship.
