The inaugural trip of the Mayan Train is scheduled for this Friday, December 15 and the flagship of the López Obrador’s six-year term will be carried out despite the fact that the Cancún Station is not completely ready.

With heavy machinery, part of the terminal structure is roofed against the clock.

Everywhere you can see men working and the constant mobilization of vehicles, trailers with furniture, and cranes.

According to authorities of the Mayan Train, the trip from Campeche to Cancun will last 5 hours and 30 minutes, considering stops at stations and stops along the route.

The section that the president will inaugurate includes section 3 that goes from Campaeche to Izamal and section 4 that runs from Izamal to Cancún, That is, the area where there were no environmental conflicts, protections, or expropriations.

The initial budget of the Tren Maya tripled due to legal conflicts, modification of the initial layout, construction of bridges, compensation, change of construction companies, and costs not foreseen due to the lack of an executive project from the start of the project.
