At least 12 people, three City Hall officials and workers, as well as scavengers, were taken by an armed group from the Taxco landfill last Tuesday morning, with their whereabouts unknown to this day.
According to reports, around 11 a.m. an armed group arrived at the municipal garbage dump located in Cerro Gordo and took away the people who worked there.
A source from Taxco, who requested anonymity for security reasons, reported that on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 26, relatives of one of the people appeared at the investigative police agency in Taxco, but the workers refused to take their complaint and told them. They told them to return 48 hours later.
The relatives did not want to go to the Iguala office for fear of being attacked on the road. However, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported that it does not have precise information on the missing people because the relatives have not filed complaints.
Unofficial search files were uploaded on social networks to ask for help in locating them. The files are from Wendy Alejandra Salas Gutiérrez, director of the landfill; his daughter, Hanna Monserrat Salgado Salas, and María de Jesús Valladares Jacobo. In addition, the file of three garbage workers is circulating: Brayan Alexis Sainz, Tomás Eladio Bustos and José Hernández Avilés. So far no authority has officially reported on the abduction of the 12 people. Nor has there been any information on the reasons for the deprivation of liberty of the officials, employees, and scavengers.
