A crocodile attacks a fisherman in the Progreso swamp

A man who went fishing in the Progreso swamp and received a bite on the leg from a crocodile. The information collected indicates that the incident occurred at kilometer 12 of the Progreso-Telchac Puerto highway, when a man identified as Luis C., 28 years old, entered the swamp with the intention of fishing.

However, when he was walking into the swamp he entered a ditch and it was then that he suffered an attack from a crocodile, as he was bitten on the leg and the wound was bleeding profusely. The attack left him with several lacerations on his leg and thigh.

His partner, seeing the situation, helped him out and put him in a stash. They later notified the emergency services. The first to arrive at the said place was the State Police paramedics, who were in charge of treating the injured man and then boarded him in an ambulance and transferred him to the Agustín O’Horán hospital in Mérida. The municipal police of Progreso became aware of what happened.
