4-year-old suffers serious injuries after dog attack in Dzidzantun, Yucatán

In the municipality of Dzidzantún, a four-year-old girl was attacked by her dog who did not recognize her. According to APC’s relatives, she was in the yard of her home on 23rd Street between 14th and 16th Streets, she was playing with her pet when suddenly, the animal went wild and attacked her.

The canine bit her several times on the face, injuring part of her left eye.

Her parents, upon hearing the girl’s screams, went out to the yard and realized what had happened. They requested support from the municipal authorities and paramedics from the Municipal Police arrived minutes later.

As an accident occurred moments before in another location, the ambulance was not available and the minor was taken to the hospital in a municipal police patrol car. The unit was on the Mérida-Tizimín federal highway, junction towards Cansahcab when it was intercepted by the Y-28 ambulance of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP). The transfer was made and the journey continued to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) clinic in Motul, where it was reported that the little girl’s health condition was delicate.

Relatives stated that the dog had never attacked anyone before, so they did not know exactly what happened. After receiving care at the Motuleño hospital, he was sent to a hospital in Mérida.
