The cut to Campeche’s State budget will be more than one billion pesos

The budget cut for Campeche in 2024 would be greater than the 927 million pesos that had been initially contemplated in the Federation Expenditure Budget Project, and will exceed one billion pesos, warned the president of the Special Plural Commission for Defense of the Federalized Resources of the State Congress, congressman Ricardo Miguel Medina Farfán.

The legislator regretted and condemned that a clear response was not given to the request not to reduce our state’s resources significantly, and announced that they will continue with their efforts next week.

Medina Farfán confirmed that yesterday the Budget Commission of the Chamber of Representatives began the review of the opinion related to next year’s Federal Budget, which warns of a greater decrease than that proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, mainly to the Federal Contributions Fund and the shares that will be allocated to the States and Municipalities of the country.

He anticipated that this reduction would undoubtedly further aggravate the condition that was expected for Campeche, since not only would close to a billion pesos be cut, but much more, since the participations are reduced, with respect to the project sent by the Federal Executive, by another four billion pesos, and in the Contribution Fund another 1,400 million pesos.

“They reduce what would be distributed to the States and Municipalities, and the amount that was considered for Campeche would no longer be the 927 million pesos initially proposed but will exceed one billion pesos,” he warned.

However, the local legislator (from the PRI) stated that they will continue fighting and managing to assert the interest of Campeche, and recalled that they already have the support of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), and are waiting for the organization in Carmen to send their requests statements to the plenary session and to be able to continue demanding justice for the entity.

Medina Farfán explained that next week a representation of the Commission will travel again to the Federal Congress so that the project is reviewed before being ruled since the official request even appears on the subject of review of the agreement, “and in the plenary session of the Chamber of Representatives will insist on how important it is to have the support of the Federation.
