The archaeological discovery was announced this Thursday, November 9th, on AMLO’s daily morning conference.
In the Casa Colorada archaeological complex within the premises of Chichén Itzá, a sculpture of an anthropoform face with a snake headdress was found.
On Thursday, November 9th, during the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the director of the INAH, Diego Prieto, reported on the discovery of said sculpture, made last Tuesday.
When highlighting the archaeological rescue during the construction of the Mayan Train, Diego Prieto explained that it is a human head that looks like warriors were used to be represented “with a headdress, with a kind of helmet, in this case it is a snake figure of which shows the face of this character”.
“He is probably alluding to the representation of Kukulcán, the feathered serpent of the Mayans,” he concluded.
