“Progreso will have more employment opportunities with the arrival of Chedraui” (Julián Zacarías)

As previously reported by The Yucatan Times, Grupo Chedraui is making a 3.6 billion pesos investment in the state, and the port of Progreso is an important part of the expansion plans.

Progreso, Yucatán, (November 9, 2023).- Mayor Julián Zacarías Curi was present at the announcement made by the State Governor, Mauricio Vila Dosal, regarding the next investment that the Chedraui Group will carry out in the capital of the State and the municipalities of Motul, Tekax, Valladolid, Ticul and Progreso; The mayor highlighted that this opportunity will benefit the families of the port by creating jobs.

The announcement took place in the city of Mérida, at the International Congress Center, where deputies and mayors of the municipalities where the new stores will be built were also present.

The state executive explained that, in the next five years, the Chedraui Group will invest more than 3.6 billion pesos in the opening of 16 new branches in these municipalities, as well as in Mérida. This will represent the generation of more than 5,600 jobs.

For his part, Zacarías Curi highlighted that this type of investment supports the good work that is being done in the state government and the excellent coordination that is maintained with the municipalities, to create greater opportunities for Yucatecan families, and in this case, for those of Progreso.

“We will be very attentive to this project, so that the people of Progreso obtain a job opportunity that, without a doubt, will allow them to improve their quality of life, without forgetting that the opening of a new store will also cover the basic needs of the inhabitants,” concluded the mayor.
