The State Attorney General’s Office (FGR) carried out investigations in a clothing store in downtown Mérida, to complete a search warrant granted by a judge.
Supported by personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the Mexican Navy, the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), and the Municipal Police of Mérida (PMM), the federal agents arrived at the store located on 58th Street between 65 and 67, where after showing the search warrant, they asked those in charge of the place for the merchandise documents.
The agents secured the store and removed the employees, while inside they stayed with the managers reviewing the documents.
A federal judge issued the search warrant that stems from an anonymous complaint indicating that apocryphal or “pirate” merchandise was sold at the location.
The operation, in which heavily armed elements participated, caught the attention of pedestrians who wondered if there had been a murder at the scene. In the afternoon, the authorities continued at the scene carrying out the investigation. Until that moment, there was no knowledge of any detained person.
