Through the “Juventudes Yucatán, Planet Youth” Program , significant progress has been made in the prevention of harmful practices, such as alcohol consumption and substance abuse, among girls, boys and young people in Yucatán.
During the Third Ordinary Session of the State Council “Juventudes Yucatán”, chaired by María Dolores Fritz Sierra, head of the General Secretariat of Government (SGG), the achievements obtained in August, September, and October 2023 were presented.
Joana Briceño Ascencio, head of the State Center for Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation (Cepredey), highlighted the objectives achieved, such as the installation of municipal monitoring councils, personalized plans in program schools, and continuous training for teachers, and instructors and structured activities for teenagers.
More than 5 thousand actions in 14 municipalities
The creation of municipal committees and councils in towns such as Progreso, Umán, Tizimín, and Motul was reported, thus completing the total formation of the municipal plans. More than 5 thousand actions are strategically implemented in 14 municipalities, benefiting teachers, students, and parents.
Briceño Ascencio detailed the activities, such as talks, workshops, tournaments, and calls, highlighting the creative contest for “World Mental Health Day.” Student representatives thanked these actions and shared positive experiences.
The coordination of Cepredey with the Ministry of Education (Segey) was highlighted for the design of individualized school plans. In addition, recreational activities and direct participation in events of various state institutions were highlighted.
Representatives from various government agencies and civil associations participated in the session. The Ministry of Culture and the Arts announced projects for the artistic development of young people next January.
The municipal presidents of Umán and Celestún thanked the efforts of Governor Vila and the agencies involved, recognizing the fruits in the young people and families of their localities.
Thus, the “Juventudes Yucatán, Planet Youth” Program continues to impact the adolescent population in Yucatán, covering school campuses, family environments and social strategies.
