Over 800 schools across the state will serve as voting facilities in 2024

 With the aim that the election day to be held on June 2, 2024, takes place in safe, reliable, and accessible spaces for citizens and in particular for people with disabilities and/or or people in vulnerable situations, the Secretariat of Education of the Government of the State of Yucatán (Segey), signed an agreement with the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of Yucatán (Iepac), for the joint execution of strategies and activities that benefit the citizens participating in the day.

In this framework, the head of the Segey, Liborio Vidal Aguilar, reaffirmed the commitment of the institutions to provide the necessary facilities in educational centers for the development of the electoral day, from the corresponding notification with the management staff of each school to coordination to ensure that the spaces have the appropriate facilities for this purpose.

Accompanied by Luis Guillermo de San Denis Alvarado Díaz, President Councilor of the Local Council and Executive Member of the Local Executive Board of the INE in Yucatán, and Moisés Bates Aguilar, President Councilor of the General Council of the IPEAC, the head of the Segey, explained that a total of 814 schools will function as polling stations, of which 116 correspond to Preschools, 599 to Primary Schools, 80 to Secondary Schools, 16 to Baccalaureates, 1 to Higher Level and 2 to Special Education locations.

This signature is carried out every 3 years in each electoral process, establishing, in addition to access to educational establishments by Segey, the use of movable property such as furniture services, electricity, classroom keys, and toilets. and whatever is required on the day of the civic day. We are committed to delivering the schools in a timely manner, as well as in the best conditions, explained Vidal Aguilar.
