Another ATM from the VaVen transportation system was vandalized, affecting hundreds of users. On this occasion, the ATM that suffered damage was the one located at the bottom of the bridge at kilometer 21 of the Anillo Periférico with the road to Chichí Suárez.
According to reports, the vandals had broken the ATM’s screen. After receiving the report, several units of the State Police arrived at the scene and, as a matter of procedure, taped off the ATM so that to carry out the investigations.
According to the authorities, they will find those responsible. Fortunately, there is a security camera near the vandalized ATM, so it is expected that the investigations will progress quickly and the culprit or culprits will be arrested.
Just in mid-July, the police received a report of the destruction of a Va y Ven ATM located under the 86th Street bridge, in the Periférico Sur of Mérida.
Since April, when the Va Y Ven service ATMs were installed, at least nine have been vandalized.
At the end of June, it was announced that there would be penalties against anyone who damages the ATMs of the Va y Ven transportation service, which could put the offender in prison. Following the reform to the Penal Code approved by the Yucatan Congress, whoever is responsible for vandalizing the Va y Ven ATMs will be subject to punishments of up to six years in prison and fines of up to 51,870 pesos.
