More attractions for Animaya, the zoo will feature changes soon

Next year, the Animaya Bicentenario Zoological Park will boast new attractions and guests, according to inside sources.

The source, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to make statements, indicated that they are investing more than $30 million in the area. With the funds, the Mérida government is building a lake, hollows, green areas, more exhibition areas, an audiovisual area, a labyrinth, and new accesses.

The works already have progress on the foundations, as currently seen. Works will be completed early next year, according to the source.

“The construction in progress must be completed between February and April of next year,” said the source. “Even the animals will be inside, people who come will see them on the outside,” he indicated.

He also explained that the works are carried out “quickly”, since the workers work from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday.

However, he indicated that permits are already being processed for some attractions, such as the zipline.

“The zipline presents a problem with Civil Protection and the permit has not yet been authorized,” he said.

“It is not something directly from the zoo, it is from the play area, it is from a private company and people may have to pay a fee to enjoy it, we estimate 40 pesos, what the cable car ride cost,” he commented. Likewise, next year the Animaya Zoo will have new guests. The source could not specify which animals will arrive, for now, there is a new ostrich, which is separated from the animal area while it acquires the appropriate size.
