Mexican veteran journalist Héctor “El Arqui” Benavides dies at 82

The architect and radio host Héctor Benavides died at the age of 82. He was recognized for his extensive career in the media and he even achieved a Guinness Record for his efforts.

The death of multimedia journalist Héctor Benavides at the age of 82 was reported through Twitter. 

The communicator had been absent from the Telediario Nocturno program for months due to health problems. 

Benavides, known as the “arqui” was one of the oldest communications professionals in radio and television as he practiced journalism uninterruptedly since 1960.

On Monday, November 13, through a message published on social networks, the relatives of Héctor Benavides confirmed his death.

“It is with deep sadness that I share that our beloved father, architect Héctor Benavides, has just passed away, surrounded by the love of his family and in peace, we will miss you forever Dad“, can be read in the message they shared online.

Given the news of his death, the Monterrey Rayados Soccer Club regretted the death of Benavides with a message on their social networks:

The board, coaching staff, players, and administrative staff regret the death of architect Héctor Benavides, renowned journalist, news anchor, and icon of Monterrey television. We join our prayers so that your family and friends.”
