Man reports a case of authority abuse on social networks, Mérida Municipal Police rules out brutality

Through a statement, the Municipal Police of Mérida ruled out the abuse of authority reported by a young man through a video broadcast on social networks.

According to the Mérida Police, any type of abuse of authority towards this person is ruled out and, on the contrary, immediate attention was provided to him by the paramedics.

The bulletin mentions that the video broadcast on Facebook does not reflect the reality of the events, since at no time was there any abuse of authority towards this person.

According to the municipal authority, it was on November 7, at 01:19 a.m. when a report of a disturbance was received at the corporation’s Command Monitoring and Control Center, through C-5. The incident was taking place on 60th Street between 49 and 51, Downtown Merida.

Police officers went to the scene, who upon arriving at the place realized that a male person, RMV, was under the influece of alcohol and had blood on his face, the result of a wound on his nasal septum.

The man indicated that moments before he had been attacked by two people, as heard in the video, where he provided their characteristics, so an operation was begun to locate them.

The municpal police agents requested the presence of paramedics to treat the injured man, who at that time was accompanied by two women, LAN and LNG, as mentioned in the video.

When the paramedics were providing first aid to the man, he suddenly became very aggressively, insulting the police officers and refusing to be treated, so even though they asked him to remain calm, he ignored them, so when the man ecame even more agressive, officers proceeded to arrest and transfer him to the Municipal Jail.

The man was placed at the disposal of a judge and evaluated by a doctor, noting that the protocols to act in accordance with the law were followed at all times.

Likewise, it was announced that the Municipal Police of Mérida has photographic material and videos as evidence of what happened with this man early Tuesday morning in the downtown Merida.
