Man arrested in Progreso for animal cruelty against a dog named “Max”

The authorities arrested an individual who committed animal cruelty against Max, a defenseless dog from Progreso.

On Tuesday, November 27th, the Progreso Ecological Police intervened to help Max, the victim of a brutal machete attack on 35th Street between 44 and 46 in the Revolución neighborhood.

The dog was attacked with a hammer and a machete when got into a fight with another dog.

The owner of the second dog, in an attempt to defend his pet, caused severe injuries to “Max’s” head.

Residents of the area and owners of the injured dog called the Ecological Police, who rescued “Max” and took him to be treated by specialists. He remained under observation due to his injuries.

The aggressor was later arrested by the State Investigation Police in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and will face the legal consequences of this cowardly act.

The case has been referred to the corresponding authorities to ensure that appropriate punishment is applied to the aggressor.

The quick action of the authorities and veterinary care have contributed to “Max’s” recovery.

Now the process is opened against the person responsible for this cruel act.
