The Director of Liaison of Mérida’s Metropolitan Technological University (UTM), Mario Alberto López Irigoyen, pointed out that companies like Accenture have increased their interest in the students who graduate from this academic institution with careers and specialties aimed at Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

He said that world-class companies come to settle in Yucatán and approach this university to ask about the profiles that the university has in the engineering it teaches, and take the young graduates.

López Irigoyen specified that the engineering they teach is in high demand, specifically Aeronautics and Cybersecurity.

He indicated that in the case of Aeronautical Engineering, they are going to the third generation of graduates, while in the case of Cybersecurity, the second generation has just entered.

He pointed out that the first generation of professionals in both careers would graduate no later than January 2024 and recalled that the demand for these specialties exceeded expectations, since initially planning to open one group, they opened two due to the high demand.

“Around 50 people started, the dropout level has been minimal, there will be approximately 45 students who graduate,” said the UTM Director of Liaison.

López Irigoyen commented that these two specialties also enter the STEM scholarship program for women, which seeks to promote the female sector in careers based on Science and Technology so they can take them at no cost. In addition, he recalled that among the requirements to access the specialties within this house of studies is having a minimum average of 80 points, accrediting a degree related to the specialty and accrediting a certain level of English. Additionally, you must have an interview with the registration council, and remember that these specialties are taught in face to face mode.
