The mayor of Mérida, Alejandro Ruz Castro, highlighted that the recently inaugurated Digital Classroom at the Comprehensive Development Center (CDI) of San José Tzal aims to promote and encourage the interest of girls, boys, and adolescents, providing them access to technological tools basics to complement their academic training.
CDI launch new equipment
Ruz Castro highlighted the importance of the Comprehensive Development Centers by offering various activities that strengthen the capabilities and skills of the community in the use of new technologies. “We train and provide courses and workshops to strengthen their capabilities and skills with new technologies,” she said.
The inauguration of this space, located in the San José Tzal police station, was attended by Julio Sauma Castillo, Municipal Secretary; María José Cáceres Delgado, Director of Social Development; and Mario Alberto González Saavedra, Director of Operations and Maintenance of México Tower Partners.
Digital classroom for girls and boys from Mérida police stations
The new classroom has 10 computers, 10 desks, 1 projector, furniture, screen and two kiosks with solar panels and USB connection. The total investment for this project amounted to $565,444.00 pesos.
Sauma Castillo highlighted the joint work between the Mérida City Council, civil associations and non-governmental organizations to improve living conditions in police stations. She stressed that these initiatives especially benefit girls and boys, contributing to educational development.
The Municipal Secretary highlighted the importance of providing access to digital tools, such as computers and the Internet, in spaces such as the new Digital Classroom, where around 1,450 students from primary, secondary and high school public schools at the San José Police Station will benefit. María José Cáceres Delgado highlighted that the Digital Classroom will allow the development of courses and workshops, in person and virtual, to strengthen the skills of boys, girls, adolescents, young people and adults in the municipality. In addition, she pointed out that she will expand the classes and space at the CDI, allowing services to be provided five days a week.
Finally, Mario Alberto González Saavedra expressed his gratitude to the City Council and licensed mayor Renán Barrera for their collaboration with “México Tower Partners”, highlighting the importance of these initiatives to foster creativity and motivate children through access to new and better technologies.
Currently, the San José Tzal Comprehensive Development Center offers computer workshops, plastic arts, children’s workshops, crafts, beauty training, cooking and baking.
