On Saturday, November 11, 2023, just a few months before the electoral contest, the Morenista groups began to break the leadership of Claudia Sheiumbaum due to the imposition of the national leadership in the states.
At a public event in Mexico City where the candidate attended, she paled in the face of the boos and signs of repudiation from the rebellious Morenistas who turned a deaf ear to her call for unity, revealing her lack of leadership and control among the internal bases of that party.
The following video shows the rejection and anger at the imposition of their “rooster” that lacks local support, while the stadium cheered the name of “Clara” Brugada.
At times, Sheinbaum lost control of the auditorium because even though he insisted and even asked everyone to get up from their seats to shout unity, the people of Clara, far from shouting unity, began to shout “utopia, utopia”, in clear reference to Brugada’s works in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office.
Several minutes passed and finally, the candidate managed to regain control of the situation. Before Sheinbaum finished her event, people in the stands began to leave.
These scenes, like the one that occurred in the Congress of Campeche, are increasingly frequent in a party that lacks firm leadership to support recent appointments that were more due to top-level agreements than a consensus with its militancy.
