Due to cold front number 11 during the early hours of this Thursday, snowfall was reported on the Iztaccíhuatl, Popocatépetl and Nevado de Toluca volcanoes, so the authorities of the State of Mexico alerted the population to protect themselves due to the decrease in the temperature, mainly in regions near the mountains.
Snow was observed on the tops of the volcanoes and in the surrounding area in recent hours, which attracted the interest of many inhabitants who like to witness these landscapes, but the authorities made recommendations to citizens so as not to expose themselves to any danger.
The snow that accumulated in the first hours of Thursday, November 23rd, was at 4,200 meters above sea level, reported the head of the Civil Protection Coordination of the State of Mexico, Adrián Hernández, which does not represent a risk to the population.

The state agency announced that due to the rains and the fall of snow, access to the Nevado de Toluca was closed to avoid any type of risk to visitors who come to that area. Personnel from the Forest Protector (Probosque) took a tour of that area and for security reasons decided to restrict the passage of tourists.
“We are ready for the issue of the cold front and for the winter season that begins on December 15, we are in contact and communication with the municipal Civil Protection units so that if necessary, install the shelters that are required of the 517 that there are. throughout the state,” said Adrián Hernández, Civil Protection coordinator of the government of the State of Mexico.
So far, none of the shelters distributed throughout the Mexican territory have been set up to receive families who live in areas vulnerable to low temperatures because the cold has only really begun to be felt in the last few hours.

The state authorities warned the population to dress warmly, not expose themselves to sudden changes in temperature, and drink liquids, because at this time the presence of 56 cold fronts is expected, six more than the previous year, so that they do not get sick from the roads. respiratory infections, especially children under six years of age and older adults.
