Cancun Civil Protection detects new low pressure area in the Atlantic

The weather phenomenon has increased its possible cyclonic formation to 60% in 7 days

On Tuesday morning, Civil Protection in Cancún reported on the identification of a new low pressure area in the Atlantic Ocean .

The first zone, located in the center of the Caribbean Sea , maintains a 10% probability of cyclonic development in the next two days and 10% in 7 days, moving slowly westward, 1,620 km east-southeast of Puerto Costa . Maya , Q. Roo.

On the other hand, the second area, in the Central Atlantic, has increased its risk to 20% in 48 hours and a worrying 60% in 7 days. The phenomenon is located 3,075 km east-northeast of Cancún, Q. Roo, and is moving towards the east.

Officially, the hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean begins on June 1, 2023 and ends on November 30, 2023.

Authorities urge the population to stay informed through official sources while closely monitoring the evolution of these meteorological conditions.
